what's the secret?

so I've just been wondering... what exactly makes a blog successful? you can see from the counter that it's not exactly what I'm doing. :) is it an overabundance of posting? is it pictures? is it consistency to the "topic"? what about useful advice? is it wit, sarcasm, and humor?

I know that I say I have a quilting blog... but I knew that I wouldn't be sticking to that because I don't quilt as much as I want to. I try to be funny and sarcastic, but I guess maybe I've just been dumbed down a bit out here in the Real World and I'm not as sharp as I used to be. I don't have too much useful information (wow, that makes me sound extremely interesting, doesn't it?). and I certainly can go a long time between posts (I generally blog at work which can make the opportunity to do so few and far between - I've been backposting a lot lately).

so I don't know... thoughts on what makes it worth reading? my inquiring mind wants to know.

I thought she had some pretty good tips.

I really enjoy your blog; it's very worth reading!

ha ha - thanks! at least someone other than my husband does (and sometimes I question if he reads it at all). :)

Hi, I like your blog, especially enjoyed the Chicago pictures. I think pictures are great and telling about where you live and what you're doing is fun to read about. I tend not to post a lot of comments on other people's blogs but I have now decided that I am going to try to do better. Because I have read your blog and never left any posts, so you didn't get any feedback. I would like to see more pictures about the area you live in. Connecticut is so beautiful. I've been to Shelton and Bridgeport for my work and really liked it.
