let me tell you MY story...

so that you can feel a little better about your day. :) just when I thought the days of disappointment and sorrow were over. now we're just biting our nails waiting to figure out what the heck is going on. :)

we heard yesterday, not too long after I posted last night, that everything was good to go for monday's closing and that we could contact our lawyer to have him schedule a time. yay! so I did... well, I left a message because he wasn't there. BUT, it felt good to leave the message. then... a mere hour or so later, I get word that the little shanty out back (which we probably would have taken down anyway as it was rather decrepit and small) needs to be taken down BEFORE the closing. that's per the bank. they won't give us the mortgage until it's taken care of because it MAY have lead based paint (since it was constructed prior to 1974 or something). so yeah. back to WTF!! our real estate agent, who was conveniently golfing with das at the time, was able to get on this quickly and make some calls. then we find out that the sellers are just being big babies about it... and not wanting to do it... they don't have time, blah blah blah. so das and I go to our soccer game wondering what the HELL is going to happen. while we were playing, our agent left us a message stating that the sellers were taking care of it and the appraiser would be back out today (friday). that was exciting... then we knew it'd be all set... we could schedule the closing... all was right with the world once again! YAY! then this morning came around. das calls me at work with news that our insurance agent is calling asking for bank information (literally a name and address, which we don't have). our real estate agent (and our mortgage broker) both say that this information was forwarded several days ago via email to our lawyer (and his paralegal)... who both told our insurance broker, today, that they don't have that information and our mortgage broker has been leaving everyone out of the loop and so on and so forth. which is partially true, just not in this case. so then das had to solve THAT problem. THEN, our lawyer calls with a totally separate issue... the sellers are saying that it shouldn't be their responsibility to pay for the demolition of this tiny shack/shed-like building. he, our lawyer, is all for fighting it (b/c it is pretty BS)... but isn't sure how to really address it b/c, a) it is OUR bank that is requesting this to be done, not the inspector or anything and b) he's heard through the grapevine that these people are relatively difficult to work with (um, NO KIDDING!!!!). so das says that they should be paying for it... if they didn't want to sell this house, then they could have said, "no dice" and just cancelled the deal (though it would have made no sense as other banks would probably request the same thing, but I digress). but instead, they took it down because they obviously want this deal to go through just like we do. so they *should* be paying for it. besides, I don't necessarily think we could have gone to their house and done it ourselves anyway since it's not our property yet... it would be totally their responsibility. anyway... das ultimately said I don't care what you have to do or say to get this closed on monday, but we're closing on monday. :) that's why I love him so... I would have folded like a cheap lawn chair under pressure.

so to leave you with a not-so-horrible taste in your mouth... I leave you with a picture of bowser and our cat, gabe. this shot was taken last night... the story is that bowser opted to eat the cat food (both bowls) when we got home from work and leave his alone. das and I decided to not fill up the cats' bowls again as they could stand to shed a few pounds (gabe, 16lbs; jaeger, 19lbs). gabe, however, said that he was still hungry and as a big "screw you" to us and to the dog, he promptly began eating the dog's food that was left in the bowl. even jaeger came over, sniffed it and said, "dude, that's all you." I think, though, that the dog's face says it all...

House buying totally sucks! The whole FHA thing is crazy. How they can jerk you around at the last minute is totally crazy. Sorry for all your difficulties. Maybe all will be well on Monday!!
